Cleveland Indians at New York Yankees MLB Pick – August 16th
Whenever the Philadelphia Phillies paid Bryce Harper $330 Million dollars in the offseason, they did this because they wanted to make a player which may win them a match by himself. Bryce got his chance last night since he created the bases loaded at the bottom of the ninth inning, along with his Phillies team trailing by 2 runs. And he didn’t disappoint as he smashed a moonshot, upper decker, grand slam home run, to walk the game off for the Phillies.
The explosion completed an unlikely comeback that saw the Phillies hit the bottom of the ninth down 5-1. They won the match 7-5. The late-game heroics also pushed the match over the total of nine and a half, and we all picked up our second straight winning wager. It had been the definition of a back-door cover!
The game itself went a lot like I thought it’d as Drew Smyly was awful for Philly. I asked why they even traded for a guy like Smyly that was having such a bad year, and he has banged up last night, giving up five runs on seven hits in just five innings of work. He did what he could to push the game to the over, but Cubs newcomer Yu Darvish was light outside in seven innings, allowing no runs.
It looked as if we were going to take a hard-luck reduction, before Harper and the rest of the Phillies battered the Cubs bullpen for seven runs in the final two innings. We have a little blessed late in the game, but that is the reason why a wager on the over is so exciting, you are never out of the match until the last pitch is chucked! For today’s wager, we will head to the Bronx in which the Yankees host the Cleveland Indians.
The Cleveland Indians are in New York City Friday for game two of a four-game series with the Yankees. The Indians exploded to get a whopping nineteen runs in game one to take the series lead. Jose Ramirez and Carlos Santana both had several home runs, also seven distinct guys drove runs in, led by Ramirez who had six RBI on the night.
The win was a huge one for Cleveland as they’re in a tight race with the Minnesota Twins for the American League Central Division title. With the win last night, the Indians are actually only a half of a game back of Minnesota for first place. The Indians are 10-5 in the month of August.
For New Yorkthey are at little risk of giving up first place in their division, the American League East, as they maintain a nine and a half-game lead across the Tampa Bay Rays, and have the best record in the major leagues, tied with the Los Angles Dodgers. The loss was a rare one for New York since they had won thirteen of their past fifteen games this month prior to getting blown out last night.
Starting for the Yankees is Masahiro Tanaka (8-6 4.64 ERA), and for the Indians, it is Aaron Civale (1-1 1.00 ERA). The game total over-under is placed in ten and a half runs. The Yankees are -144 favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM PST in Yankee Stadium in New York .
The New York Yankees are finally getting their lineup healthy, and you’ll be able to see the difference in the plate. The Yankees are leading the majors in runs scored this past month, and really, it’s not even that close. The Houston Astros and their juggernaut lineup have scored six fewer runs the Bronx Bombers this month, along with the third-place team, the Minnesota Twinsare a distant twenty-eight runs behind New York. The Yankees have blasted forty-two home runs in sixteen games this month, and as a group, they are hitting almost .300 since the trade deadline.
When you take a look at the match complete for New York, they’ve gone nearly every match in the past few weeks. Throughout the month of August, the Yankees and their opponents have combined for double conducts in thirteen of their sixteen games. A huge portion of this is their powerful lineup, but New York is also experimenting with a lot of young guys in the bullpen, and we watched last night that occasionally those experiments could go wrong.
Masahiro Tanka has really struggled since the All-Star break. In his six starts as the rest, his ERA is more than seven runs. In July, he had an ERA of almost nine runs since he gave twenty five runs in five starts, including seven home runs. But in spite of the fact he has not been really good this year, the Yankees seem to discover ways to win if he’s still on the mound. New York has won ten of his last eleven begins.
Tanaka has allowed four runs or more at a start ten times this year. That includes a beginning a few weeks back in which the Boston Red Sox nailed him twelve runs in 3 innings. To say the guy has been inconsistent could be a major understatement. He can still occasionally show up though. We noticed this last week after he tossed eight shutout innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. It will be interesting to see what Tanaka brings into the park tonight because the Cleveland Indians are certainly not the Toronto Blue Jays.
Aaron Civale made his major league debut at a spot start on June 22nd for Cleveland and looked good in six innings of work. The Indians have called Civale up here in August to aid a playoff drive, and the kid was great. In both August starts since rejoining the group, Civale has pitched six innings in both games and has allowed only one run in each appearance.
I visit fireworks arriving tonight! The Yankees can’t stop scoring runs, as well as Tanaka over the mound, having a weary bullpen that got blasted for two runs yesterday behind him, I watch the Yankees giving up a bunch of runs also. Civale has been remarkable in his brief stint at the big leagues, but he is going to receive a rude awakening tonight. Shutting down the Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers will not mean you’re going to be able to slow down these red-hot Yankees. Welcome to the show kid!
This is one of the games that could turn crazy like the night’s affair that saw twenty-four runs appear on the board. After getting embarrassed on their home field last night, I visit New York showing no mercy to this rookie tonight. And most of us recognize that Tanaka will give up at least a few runs too. So, I am going to take the over in this 1 tonight.
And shockingly, the people seems to be on the beneath, as we can get dog cash on the above right now at +102. You have two options here. Simply take the above ten and a half in +102, or anticipate the under actions to maintain coming, and wait for the line to adapt to ten runs in -110. Personally, I’ll take the additional juice since I see this one sailing way over, and that I need the greater payout more than the half a run. I, however, could see a situation for waiting on the line to proceed too. As it stands today, I’ll take the over ten and a half runs tonight in the Bronx in +102!
